Kimberly and April are two sisters (just 17 months apart) who both hold master’s degrees in education. Together they have four children under the age of five. Kimberly is mom to Jack (4 ½) and Reagan (2 ½ ).  April is mom to Robbie (2 ½) and Jessica (16 months).

Kimberly and April know firsthand the joys (and struggles) of having two young children. They also know the information void that exists when it comes to parenting #2. Kimberly gave birth to her second child just as April’s first baby arrived. While April’s living room was stacked with new-baby advice books, Kimberly’s only advice came from friends who couldn’t seem to tell her more than: “It’s hard for the first few months, but then it gets easier.” This didn’t answer her question of, “What will I do with two?”

When April had her second baby, she turned to Kimberly for advice. Despite the ocean that separated them (Kimberly lives in Texas and April lives in England), they made time to talk—and commiserate—everyday.

During one phone call, April was heading off to bed in one time zone while Kimberly was deciding what to cook (or reheat) for dinner in a different time zone. Kimberly told April about her idea of flash cards for second-time moms. April went to bed way too late, Kimberly burned the leftovers and The ABCs of Baby #2 was born.
